Recreation

Recreation Supervisor

  • Opening Date: July 19. 2010
  • Work Hours:

o    This position will be required to work various shifts to include: days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Rate of Pay:
    • Starting wage is $15/hour including benefits after successfully passing 90 day probationary period.
  • Job Description:

o    Responsible for organizing, coordinating, planning, training, administering and evaluating recreation and leisure service programs and services for all ages and abilities for residents of Dobson Ranch Homeowners Association. 

o    Establish goals, objectives, and measurements for recreation programs, staff, and special events.

o    Establish programming schedule, calendars, timelines, fees and charges for programs.

o    Organize equipment, facility space, room rentals and/ or supplies.

o    Responsible for implementation and coordination of programs, events, activities or workshops for youth, teens, adults and/or retirees.

o    Coordinate and develop a working relationship with vendors, sponsors, instructors, volunteers and other service providers. 

o    Requires experience in all aspects of managing multi-use recreation centers; including aquatic management and maintenance, basketball, tennis and racquetball courts, and parks and playgrounds.

o    Coordinates activities with various groups, supervises staff, and volunteers.

o    Participates in budget preparation and administration for several recreation programs.

o    Regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and development; not excluding disciplinary action to address performance deficiencies.

o    Provides customer service and assistance to residents, participants, and the public.  

o    Must have a positive personality and strong management skills.

  • Essential Job Functions
    • Participates in the selection, training, supervision, motivation and evaluation of part-time staff.
    • Maintain discipline, safety and control of facilities and programs; including staff and participants.
    • Attend staff meetings and trainings. Plan and facilitate regular on-site staff meetings. 
    • Maintains records and prepares reports, brochures, and informational material relating to program or activity.
    • Handles public inquiries and problems, attends meeting and provides input on recreation related issues.

o    Keeps log of current trends in recreation and leisure services field by reviewing professional literature and participating in professional organizations.

    • Assists with other recreation programs as requested.
    • Maintain adequate resources of supplies and equipment while staying within allotted budget.
    • Maintain equipment in safe working order. Arrange for repairs/replacements; often through a competitive bid process.
    • Organize daily set-up and take down of center: lifting/moving tables, chairs, and boxes.
    • Other duties as deemed necessary by the Recreation Director and/or Executive Director. 
  • Physical Demands
    • The employee may occasionally be asked to lift up to 50lbs; including but not limited to lifting/moving of tables, chairs, or/or boxes.

 

  • Qualifications:

o    Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or closely related field.

o    Proof of current CPR/First Aid certification.

o    CPRP certification preferred; if not, must be able to obtain within 2 years of employment.

o    AFO and Playground Safety certifications desired.

o    Membership in APRA and NRPA

o    Requires successful completion of required selection process, successful completion of background investigation and verification of identity and work authorization.
